Expanding Accessibility in Cultural Spaces

A focus on Central and Southern Illinois

Collab co-chairs Clare Killy and Hillary Pearson, two white women wearing comfortable sweaters, sit in the center of a conference room. In the foreground, two program registrants are seated at a table with their backs facing us. The person at left is seated in a manual wheelchair with rainbow-colored spokes. The person at right has hooked a blue purse onto the back of their chair. They both listen to the presentation, as an African American ASL Interpreter signs. Behind the presenters is a projection screen with a slide that reads, “Welcome!”

Event Description: We are thrilled to bring our Collab Social to Champaign-Urbana for the first time! Come learn about the Collab and what we offer as we grow our community stakeholder network beyond Chicago. Join us for a light info session and networking at Krannert Center for the Performing Arts to chat accessibility-related topics with passionate members of the accessibility community… all with a focus on the small changes we are making at our organizations to incrementally make a big impact for cultural spaces and visitors with disabilities! Snacks, including vegetarian and gluten-free offerings, and light refreshments provided.
