If you consider yourself a member of the disability\, Deaf\, neurodivergent or psychiatric survivor community\, please join us. DESCRIPTION:Chicago Shakespeare in the Parks presents ShakesFest: A Chicago Shakespeare Community Cabaret with FREE pop-up performances in neighborhood parks. Performers\, musicians\, and dancers take center stage in this exuberant musical revue of songs riffing on familiar (and not-so-familiar) lines from Shakespeare! From pop to musicals\, hip hop\, and the blues\, Shakespeare’s words find joyful new life in unexpected ways. \nThis FREE\, fun-for-all-ages event celebrates community-building\, connection\, and the magic of experiencing live performance together with family\, friends\, and neighbors. \nFeatured arts partners include: Jose “iasEL” Gonzalez\, DJ Jeremy Heights\, James Heitz\, Emma Lyons\, Noelle Klyce\, Move Me Soul\, Segundo Ruiz Belvis Cultural Center\, and Yin He Dance. \nNow in its eleventh year\, Chicago Shakespeare in the Parks is an important component of the Theater’s Community Practice\, a year-round community connectivity program rooted in engagement with neighborhoods and collaborations with local artists. \nShakespeare in the Parks is following the health and safety guidelines of Chicago’s Night Out in the Parks program. Madeline finds a country that refuses to acknowledge its ongoing role in colonialism\, just as the Brexit vote threatens to further disengage the UK from the wider world. How do we connect when we cannot share the same physical space? How do we communicate when we feel like no one is listening? How do we move forward when the world seems to be crumbling all around us? Why do we move forward? \nDuring the pandemic\, we moved\, quit jobs\, fell in and out of love\, learned new skills and discovered new dreams. Amidst the discomfort\, the distancing\, masking\, and learning to live in the unknown\, we found that one way or another\, we changed. \nTo celebrate and share in these stories\, BoHo Theatre is producing REMOTE\, a theatrical experience devised and directed by Ruben Carrazana. Three storytellers will discover one another’s stories live onstage.
