SUMMARY:What's Yours Like at Mrs. Murphy's
DESCRIPTION:Featuring: A short performance by an incredible new improv team every week \nTellin’ Tales Theatre takes its mission “to shatter barriers between the disabled and non-disabled worlds through the transformative power of personal story” to the world of improv. “What’s Yours Like” is inspired by a theme developed by the audience at the start of each show. Then\, improvisers with and without disabilities leap into action and develop humorous and unpredictable narratives in real-time. The result matches the spontaneity and unpredictability of life\, making each show a unique experience. “Mine is shriveled.” “Mine vibrates.” “Mine hangs to the left.”… “What’s yours like?” \n  \nAccessibility: ASL Interpreted \nWebsite: https://tellintales.org

SUMMARY:MadMade Print Fair at Access Living
DESCRIPTION:Join us for MadMade\, a free\, one-day event uplifting the creative work of artists living with psychiatric disabilities and mental health challenges. This community-centered fair brings together artists\, organizers\, and visitors to celebrate art that resists stigma\, builds connection\, and honors lived experience. \nMadMade is more than a print fair—it’s a gathering built on inclusion\, care\, and cultural empowerment. Visitors are invited to explore and purchase artwork from printmakers\, illustrators\, designers\, and zine makers working across screenprinting\, linocut\, risograph\, etching\, digital processes\, and more.\nThis mad-positive\, disability-affirming event centers the artists themselves rather than diagnoses or treatments. MadMade offers a counter-narrative to both clinical and romanticized depictions of mental illness\, instead highlighting real people making real work—art that is beautiful\, messy\, joyful\, angry\, and thoughtful—work that sparks conversation and fosters community. \nAccess Information\nAccess Living’s space is fully wheelchair accessible. Access Living is a scent free space. Please refrain from wearing or otherwise bringing in scents into the space. MadMade offers CART and ASL for our public panels and can provide ASL and/or CART by request for the workshop (just select the access you need when you register). \nThere is a quiet\, sensory space available to fair participants on the 4th floor available to those who may need a break from the main fair area with some tools to assist with nervous system regulation. We also strive to include as many artists as possible while keeping the space open for mobility device users. Access workers and way-finding materials to help you get where you may need to go are provided. \nThere is a dedicated space directly in front of Access Living’s front doors for paratransit or other drop off with a curb cut\, tactile pavement\, and a ramp. All restrooms in Access Living are accessible and the space offers both binary and all-gender mulit-stall restrooms as well as all-gender single stall restrooms. \nPanel Discussions\nThe day will feature two panel discussions highlighting the intersections of mad identity\, artmaking\, and community. Both are free and open to the public and will be moderated by Matt Bodett\, Director of the Center for Mad Culture. \n“Mad and Disability Culture Building” | 12:15 – 1:00 pm\nReclaym\, Degenerates Collective\, Dandy of the Underworld\, and OOO Press will discuss collective organizing\, mutual support\, and creative collaboration across mad and disabled communities. \n“Mad Artmaking” | 3:15 – 4:00 pm\nAlyse Ruriani\, Sky Zhang\, 47pennys\, and Darya Foroohar in conversation about artistic process\, lived experience\, and reclaiming madness as a site of creativity and cultural expression. \nCommunity Resource Partners\nIn addition to artist tables and panels\, the fair will include a community resources area featuring Live Oak\, Inc.\, Wolf Pack Therapy\, Therapy Access Project\, the Mental Health Autonomy Alliance (MHAA)\, and the Chicago Disability Culture Archive.\nThis section recognizes that art and community care are deeply connected. It offers attendees direct access to organizations working toward mental health equity\, peer support\, and mad and disability justice\, extending the fair beyond creative exchange into collective well-being. \nCommunity Workshop\ndeCRIPtion\, a workshop series that creates storytelling and poetry workshops designed by and with disability community in mind\, will run a workshop during MadMade. The workshop offering will be: Odi et Amo (I hate and I love): A Poetry–Shape Note Singing Workshop on Contradiction\, Loops\, and the Voices We Carry. This workshop requires registration. For more information or to register\, please visit the Access Living Event Page. \nMadMade is organized by artist Dylan Sturdy in collaboration with Access Living\, Spudnik Press Cooperative\, and The Center for Mad Culture. \nWebsite: https://www.accessliving.org/event/madmade-print-fair-2/

SUMMARY:The Royale: ASL Interpreted Performance at Writers Theatre
DESCRIPTION:Jay is a really good boxer\, so good they call him “The Sport.” He’s won his last seventy-six fights and has his sights set on being crowned the next heavyweight champion. But it’s 1905\, and in the Jim Crow era\, a Black man doesn’t get to fight a reigning white champion. \nWhen a surprising chance at the title appears\, Jay gears up for the fight of his life—where the stakes are staggeringly high inside the ring and out. Inspired by real-world boxer Jack Johnson\, this adrenaline rush of a play by Marco Ramirez (Orange is the New Black\, Buena Vista Social Club) is a kinetic and poetic portrayal of what it takes and what it costs to make history. \nUse code WTASL2627 for $30.00 tickets. Our ASL interpreted performance is on November 14th at 2:00 pm. If you have any issue with the code at checkout\, please contact the Writers Theatre Box Office: 847-242-6000 or boxoffice@writerstheatre.org \n  \nAccessibility: ASL Interpretation\, Assistive Listening Devices\, Large Print Programs by Request\, Wheelchair Accessible \nWebsite: https://www.writerstheatre.org/events/the-royale

SUMMARY:Sol Invictus at Harris Theater
DESCRIPTION:Led by the imaginative choreographer Hervé Koubi\, Compagnie Hervé Koubi makes its Chicago premiere with the mesmerizingly kinetic Sol Invictus. Named after the “invincible sun” deity of Ancient Rome\, the work is a gravity-defying fusion of contemporary movement\, capoeira\, and urban dance that transforms the stage into a playground for possibilities. It upholds love as the guarantor of peace\, asserting that despite fracture\, communion remains humanity’s saving grace. \nThe performance is set to a transcendent score featuring a composition by Mikael Karlsson\, alongside evocative excerpts by Steve Reich and digital composer Maxime Bodson. Reflecting on the work’s radiant spirit\, Koubi explains: “I want to talk about light\, solidarity\, and those bonds that unite us. Here\, the sun and the dance will emerge victorious.” \n  \nAccessibility: Audio Description \nWebsite: https://www.harristheaterchicago.org/performance/sol-invictus

And has a damn good time doing it. \n$25 tickets available for those using the service!\nVisit https://www.steppenwolf.org/whats-on/accessible-performances for more! \n  \nAccessibility: ASL Interpretation \nWebsite: https://www.steppenwolf.org/events/adirondack-chair-circle-2

SUMMARY:Home\, I'm Darling - ASL Interpreted Performance at TimeLine Theatre
DESCRIPTION:A darkly funny exploration of marriage\, nostalgia\, and the allure—and delusion—of the “perfect” past. \nJudy and Johnny are living their dream: the idealized 1950s suburban life. As Judy doubles down on her fully immersive retro domestic fantasy\, the seams of their hyper-curated life begin to fray. What begins as a lifestyle choice becomes a revealing—and unsettling—interrogation of gender roles\, identity\, and what it costs to perform happiness. \nA smash hit on the West End and winner of the 2019 Olivier Award for Best New Comedy\, Home\, I’m Darling is a razor-sharp satire that feels both timely and timeless. \nThis performance of Home\, I’m Darling will be ASL interpreted\, featuring American Sign Language interpretation of the dialogue and other spoken elements of the production. ASL interpreters will be positioned in a designated area visible from reserved seating for patrons using the service. \nAccessibility: ASL Interpreted \nWebsite Event Details: https://timelinetheatre.com/events/home-darling/ \nWebsite Link to Buy Tickets: https://timelinetheatre.my.salesforce-sites.com/ticket/#/instances/a0FV1000004Ac1hMAC
