Too often disabled individuals have their stories told to them by medical professionals and cultural norms. It’s time to get the power back and tell our own tales! \nRewritten Narratives is a workshop for participants who self-identify as disabled and/or chronically ill\, whether the disability is apparent or non-apparent. DESCRIPTION:The show will feature work of 42 members of the A.B.L.E. community including 24 performers with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Over a 10-week rehearsal process\, A.B.L.E.’s ensembles have collaborated to develop original monologues\, scenes\, movement pieces and songs inspired by their own lives. The plot follows a group of strangers on a train ride through vast and varied lands. As the train passes through different landscapes\, faces delays\, and weathers storms\, the passengers share stories from their own journeys about where they came from\, and where they want to go.
